Historie tenisu v Luhačovicích

1902

In 1902, the first tennis court appeared in Luhačovice (other sources cite the year 1906), but at that time it was used exclusively by Count Serenyi and his family.

1923

In 1923, two more courts were built, and tennis began to be played on a larger scale.

1926

In 1926, the first international LAWN tournament was held (with tennis world champion Karel Koželuh as a special guest).

1930

In 1930, courts 4 and 5 were built, and people continued to play for fun.

1932

In 1932, the Davis Cup was also played on these courts. Czechoslovakia faced Italy, and we won 3–2.

1950

Racing activities began in 1950.

1951

In 1951, there was so much interest in the game that members had to reserve the court two days in advance. The club had 120 members.

1958

In 1958, our players won all the district titles, and the adult team won the regional competition and advanced to the regional championship. In 1958, Chinese tennis players competed in our town.

1959

In 1959, the GALE CUP was held in Luhačovice.

1961

In 1961, guests from overseas visited our courts. The group included Australians, English players, and Frost, the tenth player from the U.S. Our players, Ladislav Jánský and Jana Shánělová, successfully took on the visitors.

1963

In 1963, after its leading players were drafted into the military and left Luhačovice, the team was forced to suspend its competitive activities.

1967

In 1967, he began competing again.

1968

In 1968, he returned to the division.

1972

In 1972, the adult B team was founded as a reserve team for the "A" team.

1974–1975

In 1974–75, the tennis complex clubhouse underwent a major renovation, and the courts were fenced in.

1981

In 1981, the club’s long-time president, MUDr. Jiří Hnátek, died suddenly.

1985

In 1985, we had 7 teams in the competition—2 adult teams, 2 junior teams, and 3 youth teams.

1989

In the fall of 1989, a major renovation of all the courts and the entire complex began. The project was completed in the spring of the following year. As a result, Luhačovice ranked among the best in the entire country in terms of court quality.

1990

Starting in 1990, a tradition spanning several years began on our courts, featuring qualifying matches for promotion to the 1st League.

1998–1999

In 1998–99, the tennis club organized one of a series of ŠKOFIN TOUR tournaments—a circuit of tennis tournaments featuring popular figures from the worlds of sports and the arts. Among all the participants, it is worth mentioning the representatives of the “Golden Hockey Boys of Nagano”—Dominik Hašek, Roman Hamrlík, and Jiří Dopita; and from the cultural world, Pavel Zedníček, Václav Vydra, Miloslav Šimek, and Martin Dejdar.

1999

On July 20, 1999, former President Václav Klaus also played on the courts in Luhačovice.

2000

In 2000, the section became independent (it separated from TJ Slovan) and the Tenisový klub 2000 Luhačovice (TK 2000) was founded. Since 2000, tennis has also been played during the winter months—an indoor court was built at the GOLF complex (in Jama) and later at the Radostova sports complex.

2003

In 2003, Luhačovice competed in the Second League and finished in third place—the best finish in the history of the tennis team and club.

2009

In early 2009, Dr. Radoslav Obrtel, a long-time outstanding player for the team and a member of the club’s executive committee, passed away.

2016

For the first time in the modern history of tennis and the club—after a long 53 years—the adult team did not enter the team competition; only the younger juniors’ team did. The shortage of competitive players in this age group thus mirrors the overall trend: the stagnation of tennis.

2019

Ing. Josef Hlaďák, a longtime member of the club’s executive committee and a former successful coach and youth tennis director, has passed away.
