Vladimír Schlimbach: our orchestra is silent for now, but better times are coming

You already have it in your hand, how long is it valid?

I look and I can't help but wonder, it says 2056. So to keep me going, it won't be easy, I'll be a hundred and twenty something (smile).

Well, I wouldn't be surprised at all with you. You've been leading this unique orchestra for, I think, 57 years, you started in Vlachovice, you've been in Luhačovice since 1972, so it will soon be another nice anniversary, it's just a pity you can't play now...

It's a pity, the last time we performed at the Zlín Region Day in Zlín, if I'm not mistaken, it was on September 19 last year, since then we can't rehearse or perform.

But the coronavirus times are getting better after all. Are you thinking about rehearsals and finally performing?

Of course, I'll call the girls together as soon as I can, they're still practicing individually, but I feel things are better now. Even so, we had to cancel our trip to Baden, Austria, we were supposed to perform there on May 30, so we've arranged for September.

Your hands must be itchy by now, right?

You know we are, it looks like we might be going to Piešt'any in June and then in a fortnight we are going to do a show at our home in Luhačovice.

The battle with covid just goes on. Maybe by vaccination.

Yes, I was vaccinated in Vsetín at the beginning of February, I got the second dose, I think I can recommend it, it's not a local thing, the whole world is vaccinated, for me a clear choice.

Mr Schlimbach, you could also vaccinate.

I'm not a health care professional, I'm a cantor!

You could inject the vaccine of good mood, vitality, zest for life even a few years after 80.

I can rather recommend. Everyone at any age should have a vision of what they want to live for, what to look forward to, every day is worth enjoying, maybe it's beautiful here now. Take a look around you.

You're always moving, how do you do it?

Simply, a hundred steps loose, a hundred fast. It induces a good mind, which is essential and necessary at this time.
