Every woman should see a gynaecologist regularly at least once a year (this interval is covered by public health insurance) from the age of 15. Young girls get advice on pregnancy protection, addressing their health with regard to future pregnancy and motherhood, and healthy sex life, but as the years go by, women feel that if nothing is bothering them, regular visits to the gynaecologist's office are an unnecessary luxury. Such experiences are not only shared by the experts at Gynecology Zlin and they know very well that the opposite is true. Many diseases spread creepily and inconspicuously, it is the regularity that helps to detect their development in time, when there is a high chance of a complete cure.

irregular bleeding, pain in the lower abdomen, hardening of the belly their
Just a fraction of the difficulties that should warn every woman that all is not well. Similarly, any pain during or after intercourse, excessive and smelly discharge, redness or sores on the skin in the genital area, prolonged or sudden abdominal pain associated with nausea or fever are clear signals to see a doctor quickly.

Examination may reveal unpleasant surprises
Sometimes these may be STDs that have not yet shown any symptoms, other times inflammation, cysts, and even malignancy. A very simple and uncomplicated examination is sufficient. During a conventional gynaecological examination, the doctor will first discuss with the patient her medical history, any changes she has noticed since her last visit, any illnesses and procedures she has undergone. He or she will perform an examination of the external genitalia, a colposcopic examination, which can reveal any changes in the vagina and cervix, including an oncocytological smear. Ultrasound is now an almost routine part of the examination, it will refine the diagnosis and allow a detailed check of the woman's ovaries, fallopian tubes and uterus.

Not only young women are at risk
The cytology (smear) is sent to a laboratory for evaluation and if there are any risks, the patient is invited for further special tests. There is an increased incidence of cervical changes in young women who change partners more frequently and thus are at greater risk of contracting HPV (not only). However, post-menopausal women are also at risk and often feel that they no longer need to visit a gynaecologist. On the other hand, the hormonal changes that the transition brings with it can significantly affect the body and "speed up" the processes of reproduction. Therefore, at any age, prevention and self-care is important and just because you don't feel any major discomfort doesn't mean your body isn't hiding any disease.
