Great news for locals and spa guests! A new emergency service base will be built in Luhačovice

In Luhačovice a new emergency medical service base will be built. This is great news not only for the inhabitants of Luhačovice and the surrounding area, but also for spa guests, who are coming to this area in increasing numbers. All of them will be able to get help from the paramedics much faster than before.

The building, including equipment, will cost over CZK 30 million. More than 28 million will be paid for by the Zlín Region, the rest will be covered by the Zlín Region Ambulance Service from its own budget. Currently, they are working on zoning and construction procedures, after which it will be the turn to process the building permit.

"The station in Luhačovice, which is visited by tens of thousands of tourists during the season, was missing. It will shorten the ambulance rides to local patients, spa guests, and people from the surrounding villages," said Radim Holiš, the governor of the Zlín Region.

The idea to build an ambulance base in Luhačovice is several years old. "In recent years, we have been increasingly registering requests for our crews to travel to patients on spa or holiday stays. I am very pleased that we managed to quickly identify a suitable plot of land with the management of the town hall, which the town then transferred free of charge to the Zlín Region," said Josef Valenta, director of the ZZS Zlín Region.

Currently, pre-hospital emergency care in Luhačovice is provided by crews from the call-out base in Slavičín. Especially during the spa season, holidays and vacations, the number of calls in this area increases enormously. This has a negative impact not only on the workload of the Slavičín call-out groups, but also on the crews in Uherský Brod and Zlín, which also travel to this area.

"The professional firefighters and the Police of the Czech Republic have their station in Luhačovice. It makes sense to have an ambulance base here as well. Not only for the sake of our citizens, but also for the spa guests and people from the surrounding villages. We see this as another step that will improve the quality of life in our town," said the mayor of Luhačovice, Marian Ležák.

The Luhačovice emergency base will probably start to be built in Masaryk Street this August. The first paramedics could start using it in the second half of next year.

The town of Luhačovice is planning a building closure in the area of the historic core. The measure is intended to temporarily protect architecturally valuable sites from unregulated construction until the new zoning plan comes into force. The building closure is to apply to the spa colonnade or Jurkovič Avenue towards the Luhačovice dam. In other locations, on the other hand, the city is ready to support new construction.
