Development of sustainable tourism

"The introduction of the new line is another step towards making the Bevlava cycle path as accessible as possible to the general public. Not only for experienced cyclists, but also for families with children or seniors," said Tomáš Chmela, Councillor of the Zlín Region.

The new line complements the existing network of cycle buses and confirms the region's long-term efforts to develop sustainable tourism and promote cycling activities across generations.

The Bevlava cycle path is 64 kilometres long and is a joint Czech-Slovak project. Its route leads through the picturesque countryside around the Bečva River to the Slovak Váh. On the Slovak side, the trail continues through Nemšová and connects to the Vážská cyklomagistrála, part of the wider European cycle network. Last year, the more than 11-kilometre-long section between Lužná and Valašské Příkazy was inaugurated.

New dimension of cycling in the region

The cyclobus will run along the route Holešov - Zlín - Luhačovice - Valašské Klobouky - Vsetín - Bystřička, opening up the possibility of discovering the beauty of the region to visitors from the wider area.

The bus with a bicycle trolley can accommodate up to 20 bicycles and seats can be reserved through the reservation system.

"The new cyclobus represents a significant step for the development of cycling tourism in our region. Finally, people from Luhačovice, Zlín and other towns will be able to reach this beautiful cycle path in comfort. The Bevlava cycle path is a real jewel in the picturesque landscape, where you will be comfortable even in the hot summer. We believe that this is great news for spa guests from Luhačovice as well," says Jana Tkadlecová, manager of the Zlín and Luhačovicko destination.

Transportation adapted to the tourist season

The cyclobus will operate on weekdays from 30 June to 29 August and on weekends and public holidays from 15 June to 28 September. The lines stop at key locations such as Zlín, Luhačovice, Slavičín, Brumov-Bylnice, Valašské Klobouky, Valašská Polanka and Vsetín.

Connections with other attractions

Trippers and cyclists can combine a ride along the Bevlava cycle path with a visit to other regional attractions and points of interest.

"For example, participation in the Klobucké Cultural Summer, a tour of Brumov Castle or discovering Slavičín and its surroundings is offered," added Jana Tkadlecová.

Luhačovice wants to protect its historical centre

The town of Luhačovice is planning a building closure in the area of the historic core. The measure is intended to temporarily protect architecturally valuable sites from unregulated construction until the new zoning plan comes into force. The building closure is to apply to the spa colonnade or Jurkovič Avenue towards the Luhačovice dam. In other locations, on the other hand, the city is ready to support new construction.
