Jurkovičovy stavby

The unique natural setting of Luhačovice inspired architect Dušan Jurkovič to create a truly one-of-a-kind complex of buildings in the folk Art Nouveau style. Between 1902 and 1914, he had a profound influence on the appearance of individual buildings as well as the overall urban design of the Luhačovice spa.

Between 1902 and 1903, Dušan Jurkovič created a unique complex of twelve buildings in Luhačovice in a distinctive style that combines elements of folk architecture with Viennese Art Nouveau. Eight of them have been preserved to this day as cultural monuments.

UNESCO and the Future

The Ministry of Culture is preparing to have Jurkovič’s buildings inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List. The buildings represent a unique blend of functionalism, Art Nouveau, and folk art that is unparalleled in Europe.
