A new family film Cukrkandl starring Teresa Ramba is being filmed in Luhačovice

The creators used the historical villa Kancnýřka in Luhačovice as the main location, which represents a house with a dentist's office. The house was inherited from her uncle by a young doctor, Anička Jesenská, who decides to help everyone with bad teeth in Medovo, famous for its sugar candy production.

"We cast Tereza Ramba in the lead role. She fits perfectly into the period poetics of the film, using her extraordinary acting skills and playing a whole plethora of acting positions: from girlish enthusiasm, conspiring with a bunch of children, through themes of fear, to a woman's determination not to give up," explained the film's producer Miloslav Šmídmajer.

Alongside Tereza Ramba, there will also be Marek Adamczyk or Jiří Lábus. Jiří Dvořák will play a factory worker making sugar candy, Pavel Zedníček the mayor of the village. Audiences can also look forward to Jaroslav Plesl, Martin Myšička, Vic Kerekes and Maroš Kramár.

"I was enthralled by the entertaining and suspenseful script and read it in one breath. I'm glad that after many years a film will finally be made that does not underestimate the children's viewer and has an exceptional poetics, reminding me of the very fundamental film Páni kluci," confided Jaroslav Plesl, the representative of Lojza Kolečkář.

"After a long time, in our country, in the former superpower of children's cinema, a script for young and old audiences with unprecedented poetics and humour, reminiscent of the work of Věra Šimková-Plívová, has appeared. I think that this kind of film is sorely lacking in our country and I am sincerely looking forward to it. Children's film is a magical genre that develops not only the child's soul, but also his mind," noted Jiří Lábus, who plays the gardener František Planta.

The film should be shot during September and October on locations in Luhačovice, Hodonín, Úštěk, Zubrnice, as well as in several places in Slovakia. Cukrkandl should be released in cinemas during 2025.
