Mr. Ambassador, you, on the other hand, brought the medals, who were they intended for?
These are commemorative coins which I presented, with the knowledge of the Minister of Foreign Affairs, and very, very gladly, to two friends. The General Director of the Luhačovice Spa, Jiří Dědek, and the Chairman of the Board of Directors, Eduard Bláh. I appreciate both of them for their significant contribution to the development of Czech-Slovak relations nowadays.
What Luhačovice has always been the best at. Do you think it is still true that it is such a pleasant link between the two nations?
Of course, it is. After all, even nearly thirty years after the peaceful separation of two nations from one state, there is no estrangement. Here in Luhačovice it is evident not only at the Days of Slovak Culture. Here you still hear Slovak and Czech as the language of friends and comrades, which pleases me. And I would like to remind you, what I feel from my heart, it is beautiful here in Luhačovice.
Of course, old friends don't just break up. But what about young people? I'm sure you're seeing them in your work mission in the Slovak capital....
You know, as we live through difficult times, first covid and now difficult economically and security-wise, it seems to me that it's the potential for some danger that brings young people together. Czechs and Slovaks who have not actually experienced a common state. That is also remarkable.
You are known as an "almost" polysport. You don't have a lot of time to spare, yet, you show up on the green here and there, by which I don't mean golf?
Well of course, football, the number one sport. I'm a native of North Moravia. I'm very happy when I occasionally get to be amongst my friends from the old guard of Banik. I'd love to get a catch now and then, but it's really about time.
Which leads to my last question. As time flies, how long have you actually been in the ambassadorial post, it seems to me about two years...
...and what seems to be a dream (smile). This year I would have completed a four-year mission, starting just as we were commemorating 100 years since the establishment of the independent state of Czechs and Slovaks. I would like to complete the four-year mandate together with the Presidency of our Republic of the European Union. And then there will be new challenges, as you know, that's what our fast life is all about.

Luhačovice wants to protect its historical centre
The town of Luhačovice is planning a building closure in the area of the historic core. The measure is intended to temporarily protect architecturally valuable sites from unregulated construction until the new zoning plan comes into force. The building closure is to apply to the spa colonnade or Jurkovič Avenue towards the Luhačovice dam. In other locations, on the other hand, the city is ready to support new construction.
