Art film flaps from the Zlín Film Festival on display at Elektra Gallery

Incredible 2749 flaps have been created during the existence of the Film Flap Salon - a project that connects the visual arts with film. The original film flaps made by selected artists are auctioned off during the Zlín Film Festival and the proceeds support young filmmakers and film school students.

"During the project's existence, the Foundation has supported more than 370 films and audiovisual projects of emerging filmmakers with CZK 32 million, which have subsequently been successful at domestic and international film shows," said Čestmír Vančura, chairman of the FILMTALENT Zlín Foundation and president of the Zlín Film Festival.

In the Elektra Gallery in Luhačovice, visitors can see an overview of all the film flaps created so far, from 1998 to 2021, on large posters, as well as a sample of ten film flaps from previous years, which have been loaned to the exhibition by the FILMTALENT Zlín Foundation. For example, the last flap of the artist Adolf Born, the flap of Ludmila Zeman, daughter of Karel Zeman, Iva Hüttnerová, Kateřina Miler, the Zlín artist Ladislav Pálka and several others are on display.

"The exhibition also includes an art competition for the most original paper flap, in which children and young people can participate. Those interested can take them home, finish them according to their imagination and then hand them in at the information centre," pointed out Gabriela Gergelová from the Elektra Municipal House of Culture.

The exhibition "Salon of Film Flaps - Retrospective" is open at the Elektra Gallery until February 28 on weekdays from 9 am to 5 pm, on Saturdays and Sundays from 9 am to 12 pm and then from 12:30 pm to 5 pm. Admission is free.
