Autumn Luhačovice. Jump to the Sun Spa to see Bedřich Smetana

When I look around the colonnade, in this really cold weather, there are still a lot of people, what do you say?

It's certainly true and it's to our delight, we're glad that people are heading here now. We have a lot of clients staying here, some just come for a few hours, Luhačovice always has something to offer.

Thank you and agree, you opened the Sun Spa in May, it is definitely one of the main draws now...

No doubt, people are still heading across Spa Square to the Sun Baths complex, whose renovation we completed in the spring. For a lesson, a good coffee or dessert, just because. But there are also many who book a tour of this gem, which cost CZK 150 million in renovation work. But as you can see, it was well worth the money and the skill of the builders.

They may just stumble upon the museum exhibition Bedřich Smetana and Luhačovice, what was it like when he stayed or stayed here?

Smetana died 140 years ago in 1884, he was born exactly 200 years ago. During his lifetime, of course, Luhačovice was not what it is today. I may surprise you, but he was never here.

You do have one spa hotel, the House of Bedřich Smetana...

We do, we love it, as do the filmmakers who have shot here many times. The fact that this particular property is here, however, makes us happy and I can say with a smile that it was a good marketing move by our predecessors. But otherwise, Smetana's second wife Bettina is buried here in the local cemetery. She outlived Smetana by almost a quarter of a century.

So we find that line after all. On a slightly different note, what will the end of the year be like here at your spa?

Our guests, expected to number around 30,000 as in recent post-Covidian years, will be here enjoying the spa atmosphere in comfort until about mid-December. Then the staff will have a rest, but the end of the year will be purely spa-like again. Just after the Christmas holidays, more clients will arrive to celebrate the arrival of the New Year at the popular New Year's Eve stays here, it's flying by, 2025 will already be written.

So right next to Vincentka you can admire the works of artists in the local gallery. Vladimír Ohlídal has been working there for decades. And some nice artwork under the tree, why not...
