Construction works in Luhačovice Primary School
"The town of Luhačovice, despite the difficult current situation, is preparing and will soon start an investment project aimed at static securing of the foundation structure and floors of the western wing of the main building of the Luhačovice Primary School on Školní Street. The work is related to the planned transfer of children from the former nursery building to the primary school premises and the subsequent move of the headquarters of the House of Children and Youth from the castle to the former nursery building (811 Školní St.). The timing of these demanding moves requires that the main building of the primary school be ready for the increase in pupils during this construction season," said Deputy Mayor Jiří Šůstek.

Static securing of the foundation structures, creation of new floor slabs and classroom floors, and remediation of cracks is needed due to the collapse of the existing floors and the occurrence of cracks on the exterior and interior walls of the building. The corner of the building is still active, due to the prolonged drier periods over the last few years, when the soil can dry out to greater depths, and subsequently, when re-wetting occurs, the foundation settles into the foundation soil.
Pipe micropiles 7.5 m long, with a grouted footing 2 m long, are proposed to reinforce the foundation.
The estimated cost of the structural reinforcement of the building is $3.8 million. The construction work is expected to start in late May and early June 2020. The static securing of the building will be followed by interior works (minor structural modifications, flooring, painting, etc.).
