Dear God, how old are you anyway? St. Elizabeth's Chapel is decorated with smiley messages from children

Many visitors head here just for the sake of it, some for spiritual solace, others because they have been told what an original exhibition of ideas it contains.

And indeed, just walk in and you can see what the Children are writing to God. In fact, that's exactly what this purely original exhibition of children's writing inspired by the book of the same name is called.

"Dear God, Grandpa says you were here when you were little, so how old are you really?" goes one of the written queries.

Or: "Dear God, if I were God, I wouldn't be doing so well, hang in there," reads another message from a child's head.

There are many more of these hilarious ideas in the unassuming but much-appreciated sanctuary.

So pause for a moment. Luhačovice, it's not just springs, spa houses, inviting spas, treatments or rich cultural performances.

It's also original children's visions in one unassuming building that has been there almost forever. Or so it seems to locals and visitors alike.

For the record, the chapel was built in 1795 by the spa's then-owner, Elisabeth Serényi. During the First World War, for example, the bell disappeared from here and served a completely different purpose. It was melted down and used to make weapons.

The current one has been "on duty" here after being blessed since the summer of 2013.

And it has been a silent, now loud, witness to how children see God.

Luhačovice wants to protect its historical centre

The town of Luhačovice is planning a building closure in the area of the historic core. The measure is intended to temporarily protect architecturally valuable sites from unregulated construction until the new zoning plan comes into force. The building closure is to apply to the spa colonnade or Jurkovič Avenue towards the Luhačovice dam. In other locations, on the other hand, the city is ready to support new construction.
