Director of the spa Jiří Dědek: I am happy that culture has returned to Luhačovice in full

Would you subscribe to the words of Fráni Šrámek: summer be praised? Or - do you like this season?

I like summer - but I don't like big heat. It's associated with vacation time, relaxation, swimming and barbecues. It's more time to be with family, friends and friends. On the other hand, I also like the seasons to change. I guess I wouldn't want summer to last 21 years like it does on the planet Uranus!

Summer in L Spa Luhačovice will be what? For you and your colleagues, I'm sure it will be a working one... what will happen in this regard?

Yes, summer is a working one for us. Around six hundred employees are working these weeks to make sure that treatments, sightseeing holidays, wellness weekends or even a trip to the surrounding area are carried out to the satisfaction of our guests.

The opening of the Sun Spa is only months away. We believe that once the renovation is complete, we will have a complex that no visitor will miss. Although most talk is about the new exposition, the complex will also offer interesting places to do business. This could be an exceptional gastronomic concept or even the sale of local products. Applications are being accepted until the end of September. We would like to breathe the same life into the Sun Spa as we did with the colonnade four years ago.

I would not forget to invite you to the newly renovated Aperitivo bar Smetanka in the Hotel House B. Smetana. And why Aperitivo? Like the Italians, we would like to fill our guests' afternoon time before dinner with a glass of prosecco and enjoying delicacies. We would like to bring this cultural phenomenon of meeting friends to our country as well.

Summer in the spa is usually rich in culture, which event do you like the most, without mentioning many others?

First of all, I am happy that culture has already returned to Luhačovice in full. Every year, I look forward most to the concert of the Castle Guard and the Police of the Czech Republic, which took place a few days ago. The parade unit of the Castle Guard returned to Luhačovice after several years and prepared a really attractive choreography with weapons for us. This year was the 25th anniversary edition and I have to admit that I have been to all of them.

I will definitely not miss the Festival Janáček a Luhačovice, which will be held for the thirtieth time on July 11. On the very first evening, one of the best symphonic works of all time, Dvořák's Symphony From the New World and Janáček's world-famous Glagolitic Mass, which he began composing during his spa stay in Luhačovice almost a hundred years ago, will be performed on Spa Square.

I must also mention the traditional Days of Slovak Culture, which this year will take place at the turn of August and September.

Imagine that everything is different, Jiří Dědek is untouched by the Luhačovice Spa, he has nothing to do with it and he wants to go there with his partner for a holiday... how long would you choose, where would you like to stay and what would you like to see?

I think the connection between Jurkovic's architecture and Luhačovice is quite well known, which is why I would choose Jurkovic's house. It would be at least a week long, which we would spend not only relaxing with treatments, good food and walks in the spa park, but we would definitely explore interesting places in the area. We would choose the date so that we would arrive at the time of a festival. Perhaps a theatre festival.

It's holiday time, and the CEO chooses the time. Does he take with him his work responsibilities, or can he completely ignore them for a period of time, or even erase them from his mind?

Yes, my vacation is coming up too, and I must admit that I can't tear myself away from my work responsibilities. At the same time, I try to deal only with things that have a larger overlap and in the normal course of business, I rely entirely on my colleagues who do and must be able to deal with things without my intervention. So even on vacation, I'm in touch on an ongoing basis, but at the same time I try to enjoy it to the fullest.

Otherwise, where you're going on vacation, do you prefer it to be quiet, or will it be "either way"?

Letos is the simple answer - it will be "either way". The first week of July my wife and I are going to Slovenia to the Julian Alps to the Soca River and this will be the ramped up, exploratory vacation. And in the month of August we will fly, also with one of our daughters, to Greece for a week by the sea, where it will probably be more about staying in one place. But I don't think we'll be able to do that anyway, so we'll rent a car and go for local sightseeing or gastronomic experiences as well. And somewhere in between, I hope to have time for some fishing, where I can actually switch off for a few hours and just observe nature and maybe catch a fish sometime.
