What's new, dear Mr. CEO?
Well, for example, I recently added one year to my 50th birthday last year. Otherwise, actually, things are old and very pleasing to me. Check it out for yourself: the baths are as fit as before the covid, and they're beating with life.
Which pleases everyone, is there any way to compare the recent years marked by the covid?
We don't have exact numbers yet, it will definitely show this year, we probably won't reach the results of 2019 and 2020, we had limited capacity for too long in the first half of this year for obvious reasons. But the summer has been very good, hopefully it will continue to be so. We are pleased with the great interest from people, somewhat weaker in the treatment of pediatric patients.
The big challenge is the overhaul of the Jurkovic Water Treatment Pavilion. How far along are you?
Work is on schedule, we had to get started, we can't afford to lose the grant. Of course there is time for evaluation, there is still almost a year and a half to build. When it's finished, it will be one of the landmarks of the spa, which people know only minimally now.
You're not only the CEO of the spa, but also a fan of it, perhaps not as many know that. What is your favourite thing about the place anyway?
Tough question, if you don't mind, I'll answer it a little differently. I mean, when do I like it best here. I'm amazed at the early mornings, when the day is just getting started on the colonnade. The spa is waking up, there are early morning runners in the park, it is a sacred calm.
The Jáchymov Spa, where you also work, and which is strongly intertwined with Luhačovice Spa, is already owned by Arab investors. There are "guaranteed" reports that this is just an appetizer and that in time things will happen here too...
The sale of Jáchymov shares has been in the works for some time. Now it has come to fruition. I can tell you with a clear conscience that Luhačovice Spa will never be sold, it has a huge potential and we will be happy to develop it.
One more thing, you are known as a passionate cyclist. Is that still true?
Undoubtedly. I did a stage of the Tour de France here with a start and finish in Prague like a lot of my friends, it was amazing how the idea of exporting a piece of a legendary race caught on. I also did the Prague - Karlovy Vary race with a red carpet finish at the International Film Festival. And now I'm going on vacation. My wife is looking forward to yoga, and I'm looking forward to...guess what.
Well, on a bike, I'm sure.
Blackout.

Luhačovice wants to protect its historical centre
The town of Luhačovice is planning a building closure in the area of the historic core. The measure is intended to temporarily protect architecturally valuable sites from unregulated construction until the new zoning plan comes into force. The building closure is to apply to the spa colonnade or Jurkovič Avenue towards the Luhačovice dam. In other locations, on the other hand, the city is ready to support new construction.
