You have captured a lot of people's hearts, which is good. How did your band Huncúti come about?

The band was born in 2015. We mainly played at family parties for the enjoyment of ourselves and others. And a friend of a former member said we were hunks. Which is kind of like naughty in Czech. And the name was born.

Your roots are in Drietoma, just over the border from Starý Hrozenkov...

Of course, our whole musical family, many of them inclined to brass music and I frrr, I was enchanted by stringed instruments. At thirteen, which is pretty late, I started playing the violin. In a folk group, among other things. We danced and sang in the Nezábudky (Pomněnky) ensemble. That stayed with us, we just got better at playing at art schools.

Do you think that without any pathos it is still true that music brings nations together?

Sure. We have interesting experiences. They are from foreign weddings in our country. It was and is and surely will be valid. Good music can cheer up, that's positive and very right.

How did you like the performance in Luhačovice? A place of traditional meeting of Czechs and Slovaks, which has been true for centuries.

It was only the second time we played here. We went into this with a lot of respect. With every song we played, we got more and more energy. We totally felt the feedback. It was great for us and I believe also for the wonderful audience.

Have you played in the Czech Republic and elsewhere?

We know it best in Starý Hrozenkov, we are at home there. It's an unwritten duty to attend the Kopaničářské festivals. I remember very well our performances in the folklore group. The proper fee: bread, schnitzel, cucumber (smile).

So we rush to the finish line. The key question, to you fits me... Thirty years after independence, are Czechs and Slovaks still brothers, or "just" cousins?

For me and my friends, Czechs are still brothers. I myself have part of my family in the Czech Republic. I say with a smile as long as we don't play hockey or football against each other. Then we are more like cousins for a while...

Luhačovice wants to protect its historical centre

The town of Luhačovice is planning a building closure in the area of the historic core. The measure is intended to temporarily protect architecturally valuable sites from unregulated construction until the new zoning plan comes into force. The building closure is to apply to the spa colonnade or Jurkovič Avenue towards the Luhačovice dam. In other locations, on the other hand, the city is ready to support new construction.
