After having several special devices presented to the city management in the past months, after the latest presentation they already know the answer. Mayor Marian Ležák outlined the way the city plans to address the issue.

"We have chosen the option of mechanical cleaning using a special brush attachment on a regular brush cutter. During a practical demonstration on the pavements in one of our housing estates, I was very impressed by this solution. The effect is immediate, the pavements can be treated quickly and efficiently and it is a cheap solution in terms of purchase price and other costs. The attachment does not cost much and the brushcutters themselves do not have to be purchased, as our Technical Services already have them in their equipment. We are thus going the ecological way without chemicals, but this solution is easily available and will not have a negative impact on the economy of the town," outlined the mayor.

During the demonstration of this option and the presentation of other options for weed disposal, for example with hot water or steam, the director of TS Luhačovice Josef Pučalík was of course also present. Two sets of attachments with several spare steel brushes will soon be added to the equipment of TS Luhačovice. The set can be purchased for about 15 thousand CZK excluding VAT.

"Other presented variants used large machines that cost hundreds of thousands and seemed impractical. In addition to the cost, there would be a large amount of water that would have to be carted across town to be scooped up. Therefore, this solution seems to us to be more advantageous in terms of time, money and ecology," said Pučalík.

The device for mechanical cleaning of pavements was presented by Antonín Koplík, a representative of Moram, who also added more information about it. "It is the patented Infraweed Go head. The biggest advantage is that the city can use its own brush cutters, only this special patented head with attachment and cover is purchased. The principle is that there are three long bristles in the head that spin, creating a kind of brush that lightly cuts or pulls weeds that are in the sidewalk. In a minute, the worker can easily clear 10 square metres of pavement or road. The cover can be opened on one side so that the bristles can reach the curbside areas. Once the head is purchased, the only cost is the cost of buying more bristles, which gradually wear out with use," said Koplík.

The solution will be used to clean pavements in Luhačovice as soon as the special heads are delivered. "We want to gradually move away from chemical weed removal and I believe that with this solution we will succeed. Ecology is essential for our town, for the health of our citizens and the safety of the local natural resources. At the same time, we want residents and visitors to be able to walk through beautifully landscaped city streets with clean sidewalks," Mayor Ležák concluded.
