One of the most important treatments after pneumonia is inhalation of unique natural mineral waters, which have a "mucolytic effect", that is, they dissolve mucus in the airways. This allows people to clear their airways and clear their throats, which increases the functional capacity of the lungs.
"We use Nova Janovka and Vincentka in Luhačovice, which have a high carbon dioxide content," said Petr Pšenica, the chief physician of Lázně Luhačovice.
It's also a range of physiotherapy methods, in which health workers exercise or practice breathing gymnastics with clients. In this, the physiotherapist instructs the patient to breathe correctly and to take full diaphragmatic breaths, which allow all the lobes of the lungs to be ventilated, improving blood oxygenation and allowing the remaining inflammation in the lung tissues to be cleared.
"During their stay, patients will learn not only breathing gymnastics, but also therapeutic gymnastics, i.e. rehabilitation techniques, which will allow them to continue the regeneration of their lungs in their home environment," continued Pšenica.
An important benefit of the spa treatment is also its comprehensive approach. Therefore, all patients are given an initial medical examination upon admission and an individual treatment plan is set up for each patient based on their medical history and other problems.
"We therefore do not treat only the main diagnosis with which the patient comes to our spa, but also his other health problems, for example with the musculoskeletal system," added the head doctor of the Luhačovice spa.

Luhačovice wants to protect its historical centre
The town of Luhačovice is planning a building closure in the area of the historic core. The measure is intended to temporarily protect architecturally valuable sites from unregulated construction until the new zoning plan comes into force. The building closure is to apply to the spa colonnade or Jurkovič Avenue towards the Luhačovice dam. In other locations, on the other hand, the city is ready to support new construction.
