KHS confirms that Luhačovicko has a minimum of infected people, mayor appreciates the excellent work of hygienists
"Luhačovicko belongs to the least affected areas in the Zlín Region by the coronavirus epidemic. The development here is stable, the incidence of the disease is not increasing by leaps and bounds. The number of infected people is really low here and if the situation continues to develop in this way, it will be very favourable for Luhačovicko," commented Eva Sedláčková, M.D., Ph.D., Director of the Zlín Regional Hygiene Station (KHS).

Mayor Marian Ležák is very pleased that the territory falling under the Luhačovice Regional District Council is still with the minimum number of infected people. "I am very happy that our region, which is very much tied to tourism, is spared from sharp increases in the disease. Many thanks go to all those who are following the measures ordered against the spread of the epidemic, but also to the health inspectors themselves. They are doing a difficult job in difficult conditions, but thanks to them it is possible to prevent any further transmission and to keep the epidemic under control. Communication with the KHS management is also excellent," said Mayor Ležák. Of course, the town is trying to contribute in many ways to ensure that the health inspectors have to visit Luhačovicko as little as possible for any new cases. "We are cooperating with the municipalities in the Luhačovice municipal district, we are intensively informing citizens, we have distributed masks and disinfectants. Directly in our town, for example, to grocery stores. Disinfection is now also given to apartment buildings so that people can always treat their hands at the entrances and prevent possible transmission of the disease there. Citizens welcome this and are actively involved in protecting their health and the health of others," the mayor described.
If, despite all the anti-epidemic measures, someone else is found to have the virus, the KHS immediately deals with the case. "KHS staff will come in, secure any significant contacts that person had. The sick person remains in home isolation. People with whom this person has come into contact have to be quarantined at home to break the possible chain of spread of the disease," outlined KHS director Eva Sedláčková.
Indications for collections for coronavirus tests are usually given by a general practitioner after determining that a patient has problems consistent with COVID-19 disease or following contact with an infected person. "The actual collection is either in the home setting, where a nurse comes to the individual to perform the collection at the patient's home. The second way is that the person, on the basis of a doctor's decision, arrives himself at a special collection point set up by the Tomáš Bat'a Regional Hospital in Zlín. Biological material is similarly collected there and then sent to the laboratory for examination. On the basis of these results, further contacts are then traced, if necessary, if the person in question was found to be positive for COVID-19," the KHS director described.
Nobody has to worry about being screened anywhere to a lesser extent than necessary. "We are treating all locations the same,
all outbreaks are subject to
strong anti-epidemic
measures," the director added. In all cases, the infections as well as the cures are being recorded. There have also already been 18 cases cured across the region, according to KHS data as of the morning of April 7. They must have
two consecutive
negative tests after experiencing COVID-19 disease before they are labeled as such. The role of the KHS during an emergency is far from just detecting the disease and preventing
the spread of the disease
but also communicating with people. That is a no less challenging job. "We have been working intensively from the beginning, including Saturdays and Sundays, with all people on the phones, giving expert advice on how to proceed, but not least that kind of psychological help. People come to us and want to consult us about their particular life situations
,"
Sedláčková added.
She also said the total number of people tested in the region is already around 4,000 and hundreds more are being tested daily. But even if the infection is detected, people should first and foremost remain calm. "It is a respiratory disease which can have a quiet course. But people should mainly avoid panic. But it is necessary to strictly follow the anti-epidemic measures to prevent the spread of the disease. People should not be angry that there is someone in their neighbourhood with a proven case of the disease. It is a respiratory disease that can have an asymptomatic course and sometimes it is not even possible to trace how and when the infection occurred," Sedláčková explained.
The total number of confirmed cases of COVID-19
in the Zlín Region recorded as of 9:00 a.m. on April 7 was
201.
The
cure
has already been
18 people. Number of persons with COVID-19 in the Zlín Region by district: district Kroměříž 22, district Uherské Hradiště 106, district Vsetín 31, district Zlín 42

The town of Luhačovice is planning a building closure in the area of the historic core. The measure is intended to temporarily protect architecturally valuable sites from unregulated construction until the new zoning plan comes into force.
