Luhačovice is coming back to life and is gradually returning to normal life. It also includes the possibility to borrow a book or to get the necessary tourist information, for example, if you come to stay at the local spa. Both of these options will be available to the public again from Monday, May 4.

The Luhačovice Municipal Library will be open three days a week on Mondays, Tuesdays and Fridays from 9 am to 3:30 pm. The period from 9 am to 12 noon is reserved for senior citizens.

A number of other measures will accompany the operation. "Visitors will be allowed into the library in groups of no more than two, wearing robes of course. They must ring the bell at the entrance, and only then will we let them in. We ask everyone to use hand sanitizer when entering and to keep a 2 metre separation, both outside and inside the library. Visits to the library should be limited to the time necessary," outlined library director Tatiana Heinzová. For safety reasons, a plexiglass screen will also be placed at the library desk to separate staff from readers. For the time being, the library will only offer people a basic service. "They will be able to borrow and return books, but there will be no copying services or the possibility to use the internet or the reading room for the time being," Heinzova pointed out. As part of the increased sanitation measures, people must also expect that there will be no restrooms available in the building. Even the actual lending and returning of books will have special rules. "There will be two separate locations - one for returning books only, the other for lending. Returned documents will be immediately disinfected on the surface and moved to quarantine - they will not be available for borrowing for the next four days," the library director outlined. Meanwhile, she has a special plea for anyone who has borrowed books but is under an ordered home quarantine. "We ask them not to return publications or send them back to the library via third parties in the meantime," Heinz appealed. "However, I believe that all people will respect the mentioned recommendations and our readers will be pleased to be able to use our library services again after a long time," Heinz concluded.

The City Tourist Information Centre at the Elektra House of Culture will also open to the public from May 4. Special hygiene measures will also be set up there and the entry of people will be regulated. "Since according to the preliminary plan for the relaxation of government measures we were supposed to start operating only from June, we are currently repairing plaster and painting in the premises of the information centre. We are yet to specify the opening hours, which may be reduced for the time being as compared to the normal operation in May. The regular hotels are not yet open and people are yet to arrive for spa stays, so we expect less interest in the information centre's services in the first days after opening. Some services will also be limited due to hygiene measures," explained Hana Slováková, director of the Elektra City Centre. However, the information centre is serving the public throughout the emergency, with MTIC staff handling telephone and e-mail enquiries.

The town of Luhačovice is planning a building closure in the area of the historic core. The measure is intended to temporarily protect architecturally valuable sites from unregulated construction until the new zoning plan comes into force. The building closure is to apply to the spa colonnade or Jurkovič Avenue towards the Luhačovice dam. In other locations, on the other hand, the city is ready to support new construction.
