Solid wooden pots have been custom made especially for these palms, which are not only adapted for the plants themselves, but also for easy handling. Although they are a frost-resistant species, they will be safely stored during the winter.
"The idea to add palm trees to the downtown area stems from a reference to the city's early development, when palm trees were part of the decor. They are the living ornaments of the city, adding to its unique character and spa-like atmosphere." said Mayor Marian Ležák.
Luhačovice City Hall financed the purchase of the palm trees from the funds it regularly allocates for beautification of public spaces and the expansion of green areas.
"These funds have long been used to beautify the city space and ensure the cleanliness of the streets. The new palm trees not only diversify the public space, but symbolically underline the spa and tourist character of the town," said Luhačovice spokesperson Hana Srncová.
The town paid 100,000 crowns for the five palm trees.

The town of Luhačovice is planning a building closure in the area of the historic core. The measure is intended to temporarily protect architecturally valuable sites from unregulated construction until the new zoning plan comes into force. The building closure is to apply to the spa colonnade or Jurkovič Avenue towards the Luhačovice dam. In other locations, on the other hand, the city is ready to support new construction.
