It's a sight to behold. The area of the Tennis Club Luhačovice is actually a historical jewel. The first court was supposedly built in 1902, other sources say 1906. What is certain is that the present clubhouse was built here in 1925 according to the design of architect Josef Skřivánek and it is one of the landmarks of the spa square to this day.
There are now five courts to play in, enjoyed by locals and visitors to Luhačovice, and a number of tournaments are held here, among them, for example, the one organized by the Luhačovice Spa every year in early September.
In the past, tennis history was written here. Already in 1926 the tennis world champion Karel Koželuh was presented here, the year 1932 is recorded in the history of the club as the place of hosting the Davis Cup, but this is disputed by experts here and there. The Gale Cup for young national teams was played here, and later Dominik Hašek, Roman Hamrlík, Pavel Zedníček, Martin Dejdar, Miloslav Šimek and many others showed their skills here.
The Chinese played here more than half a century ago, later the Australians, the English, the Americans. The history is truly magnificent.
So when you sit in the auditorium with a glass of Ott's water, for example, which springs up a few yards away, know that you are in a place that belongs to the spa in an absolutely central and indelible way.

Luhačovice wants to protect its historical centre
The town of Luhačovice is planning a building closure in the area of the historic core. The measure is intended to temporarily protect architecturally valuable sites from unregulated construction until the new zoning plan comes into force. The building closure is to apply to the spa colonnade or Jurkovič Avenue towards the Luhačovice dam. In other locations, on the other hand, the city is ready to support new construction.
