Everyone, even the less knowledgeable, can easily reach the centre of the Luhačovice Spa and practically cannot miss it. Hot days are very tempting to refresh yourself.
The only one, although not the biggest, is called the Brussels one. You'll find it under the Bedřich Smetana Spa House. It has an extremely interesting origin. As the work of the architect Jan Kavan, it first served and contributed to the great success of the then Czechoslovakia at the 1958 World EXPO in Brussels, Belgium. After two years, the fountain moved to Luhačovice. And it has been their little-noticed but all the more pleasant "landmark" for more than sixty years.
The larger and more frequently visited large fountain is located in the very heart of the spa between the iconic buildings, i.e. the recently perfectly repaired colonnade and the equally indispensable for Luhačovice Social House. On sultry days, but not only then, this symbol of Luhačovice is virtually impossible to miss. The views through the water splash are actually complemented by the ubiquitous rainbow and it is obvious that it is a wonderful place to cool down.
The Social House has another remarkable feature. At the beginning of 2009, it hosted the so-called Ministerial, a meeting of the heads of the ministries of labour and social affairs of twenty-seven European countries. Only rarely has a similarly grandiose event been held in the Czech Republic. Just to clarify, the Czech Republic held the presidency of the European Union at the time.
The Luhačovice Colonnade is probably the biggest attraction today, even for those who do not live and are not treated here. The truth is that it will not begin to enjoy its golden days until the summer of 2021. Soon after its opening, a global pandemic struck and the number of visitors to Luhačovice, including its main spa thoroughfare, dropped significantly. Now it is worth a proper enjoyment, just like the springs that surround it.

Luhačovice wants to protect its historical centre
The town of Luhačovice is planning a building closure in the area of the historic core. The measure is intended to temporarily protect architecturally valuable sites from unregulated construction until the new zoning plan comes into force. The building closure is to apply to the spa colonnade or Jurkovič Avenue towards the Luhačovice dam. In other locations, on the other hand, the city is ready to support new construction.
