Luhačovice, as we know it from today's numerous views and vistas, has shaped its current face to a decisive extent since the beginning of the 20th century, some one hundred and twenty years. The influence of the Slovak architect Dušan Jurkovič is essential, the next stage being the buildings of the First Republic. Subsequently, Luhačovice also had more and more stages, when its now much appreciated appearance was shaped.
Taking it against the flow of time, the sports complex called Radostova is not at all without interest. It is a popular place for athletes to go for their training camps, they find everything they need there. In fact, the sports hall, the accommodation facilities and the surrounding playgrounds form the latest architectural face of the town.
The Elektra cultural centre with its multipurpose hall, cinema and restaurant stands out from the Luhačovice classics. When Elektra still smelled of newness, Václav Klaus was making his way to the political limelight here in the early 1990s at the pre-election congress of his party, heading for the prime minister's seat. Otherwise, it is the site of numerous congresses, not just medical congresses, and many other meetings of various professional and interest groups.

Well, then we would go back to the very beginning of the century, when Dušan Jurkovič designed the reconstruction of the original Jan House. It was also called the colourful fairy tale. A challenging reconstruction a hundred years after its construction turned it into a real spa fairy tale, and today it is one of the most sought-after spa hotels. It's a fairy tale...

Luhačovice wants to protect its historical centre
The town of Luhačovice is planning a building closure in the area of the historic core. The measure is intended to temporarily protect architecturally valuable sites from unregulated construction until the new zoning plan comes into force. The building closure is to apply to the spa colonnade or Jurkovič Avenue towards the Luhačovice dam. In other locations, on the other hand, the city is ready to support new construction.
