LLL - summer delicacies from Luhačovice, part six

From the colonnade or the city centre, it's a very nice two to three kilometre walk. And exercise, that simply belongs to holidays, summer and generally vacation time or fixing your health.

There are various ways to take a 3,300-meter "detour" around the dam. On foot, on in-line skates, on a scooter, on a bicycle and there are even more ways. For example, one can also pedal across the water.

Circumstances necessitated this waterworks, as the 1910 floods were such a deterrent that action was taken. Construction of a flood control reservoir on the Juniper River (she can still be as wild as a capricious ungifted woman) began in 1913, but the promising development was scuttled by World War I. It was continued from 1922 and the 40-hectare reservoir was first filled in 1930.

The dam is 17 and a half metres high and can hold about 2.7 million cubic metres of water in normal times.

Their surroundings are remarkable. If you come from Luhačovice, everything is ok. Nice restaurants, neighboring swimming pool, boat rental, large camp nearby. But don't take it from the other side, from Pozlovice. Here, for thirty years, the former recreation centre called Voronezh has been discouraging, scaring, haunting, suing and spoiling the impression. That is, its overgrown torso.

The next steps are already pleasant, interesting views are from the dam, as well as from the other side of the tributary of the mentioned Štiavnica.

Around the circle, in summer, when the weather is not bad, heaven forbid covid, pleasant sedan chairs with refreshments operate. The Luhačovice dam is a place that should not be missed even by those who spend several weeks in the largest Moravian spa in the thrall of treatments, dancing and other spa pastimes.
