Luhačovice attracts not only spa guests, but also fiancés

Weddings in the spa town make for beautiful photos amidst the greenery, by the springs or even on the colonnade. Another reason often cited by fiancés is their personal connection to Luhačovice.

"Maybe they were here for treatment and fell in love. Some of them met here directly, or went on holiday together when they were still single. They have a relationship with Luhačovice and they want to be connected to it," says the mayor of Luhačovice, Marian Ležák.

The entire spa area hosts weddings very often. But the town also has a number of other unusual places where wedding vows have been said. For example, the Love Pond, the Music Pavilion, the Spa Park, many couples get married right at one of the springs.

"You can choose any location. It's just a good idea to consider the choice carefully, because a wedding ceremony is a solemn act. And if it is not a city property, the owner's consent is required," adds practical information from Jana Homolkova, the registrar and head of the administrative department in Luhačovice.

She adds that a nice date is shaping up with lots of deuces, which according to numerology symbolize duality and harmony. And it has the practical advantage of being easy to remember. "October 22, 2022, it's on a Saturday, perfect for a wedding. Some times on this day are still available in Luhačovice," notes Jana Homolková.

Many weddings in Luhačovice take place in the White Quarter, for example in the meadows above the Aloiska spring, on Ptačí náměstí, by the two lime trees in the park near Aloiska or also on the terrace of the Radun hotel overlooking the swimming pool.

"The unique natural spaces here are also often chosen by couples for outdoor photo shoots. Some use the Aloisque for the newlyweds' toast, for example when the bride is in a blessed state," mentions Marek Nesázal, a councillor in Luhačovice and owner of the Radun Hotel.

He himself has married hundreds of couples in the town. For example, the wedding of a young couple from Prague, who chose the first day of spring, March 21, has stuck in his mind. The newlyweds wanted to have the ceremony in a meadow above Aloisca.

"It was cold this time of year, no spring weather. It had been raining since the morning, so we had already decided on the wet option for the ceremony at the Radun Hotel. But just before the start, something unexpected happened. Suddenly the rain stopped, the clouds parted and the sun came out," recalls Marek Nesázal.

It was a clear signal, he says, that the wedding was to take place outdoors. The beautiful weather lasted until the end of the ceremony, then the rain returned. "The wedding was a great success and the young couple, now with their six-year-old son, come to Luhačovice every year, they love it here," concludes the councilman.

Luhačovice wants to protect its historical centre

The town of Luhačovice is planning a building closure in the area of the historic core. The measure is intended to temporarily protect architecturally valuable sites from unregulated construction until the new zoning plan comes into force. The building closure is to apply to the spa colonnade or Jurkovič Avenue towards the Luhačovice dam. In other locations, on the other hand, the city is ready to support new construction.
