Luhačovice dam turned into a 40-hectare ice rink

"I'm Tonda Řezníček, I'm with a friend from Luhačovice, but we just came to enjoy the atmosphere, the weather, my skates are only ten years old, I got them for my 60th birthday," says the man, who is already testing the strength and flexibility of his hockey stick and looking for the puck.

Friend Josef Procházka already completes the strike team. "Well, Tonda is still in junior, I'm seventy-nine, but I feel great. My skates are also new, they're a good fifty-five years old, I went down a while ago, but that's nothing, just a scratch. I'm a great grandfather and I've been around the block, hockey is a man's sport, so let's keep going, we can't let anything go, the conditions are amazing," the indomitable man rushes onto the ice.

"Oh really, our grandfather, he's a big guy, he's unstoppable, a scratch won't make him lose his mind," laughs his granddaughter.

The dam is a haven for a good two hundred people, big and small, who want to move on Sunday afternoon. Some are better at it, some are worse.

"Tonda and I have been involved in sports, far from just hockey, all our lives, and we were civil servants, so movement at any age is an impeccable part of life." Mr. Josef pauses as he scores his first goal on the nicest possible rink.
