Luhačovice in tennis and singing intoxication

Slovak Culture Days were held for the tenth time. As the general director of Luhačovice Spa Jiří Dědek reminded, there are more anniversaries this year. For example, 120 years ago, the first spa organisation was established here during the Austro-Hungarian era. And it is thirty years since the local joint-stock company was transformed into its present form.

There were a number of cultural events by Slovak artists, culminating in a performance by the vocal group Gioia in the Spa Theatre.

Tennis was, as it was clear, also green, with the local courts a few dozen metres away at the Ottovka spring teeming with familiar faces from many professions. A total of 16 pairs were playing and it was a joy to see how well they were doing.

For example, Marie Retkova, a long-time TV and radio face, was radiant with vitality.

"The environment here is so uplifting and pleasant that sometimes I play better than I actually can," the skilled polysportswoman was spreading good cheer around and bon moting around.

Tomas Tuhý, the Czech ambassador to Slovakia, showed a lot of skill on clay. He brought not only a tennis racket, but also commemorative medals for two men who give their art and work dedication to the Luhačovice spa. He presented them to Eduard Bláh and Jiří Dědek, the heads of Lázně Luhačovice a.s.

"Gentlemen, this is an appreciation of the work of you and your colleagues, thanks to you and your colleagues it is simply a pleasure to come here," the ambassador remarked.

There was also a good and exciting tennis match. The pairs Berdych, Liberda and Dudek, Klapil made it to the final.

A huge fight, emotions, tension and finally great joy for Wallachia after the 6:3 win for the pair Berdych, Liberda.

"A beautiful tournament, great people, I think we played quite well, we are happy with the trophy and great prizes," assessed the performance of the older of the pair of winners Martin Berdych, father of our long-time tennis number one Tomas.

Luhačovice wants to protect its historical centre

The town of Luhačovice is planning a building closure in the area of the historic core. The measure is intended to temporarily protect architecturally valuable sites from unregulated construction until the new zoning plan comes into force. The building closure is to apply to the spa colonnade or Jurkovič Avenue towards the Luhačovice dam. In other locations, on the other hand, the city is ready to support new construction.
