The city of 5,000 may not reach the record of 150 ceremonies a year this year, but it is already certain that there will be plenty of them even in such a specific year. This, of course, also pleases the mayor of Luhačovice, Marian Ležák, and local hoteliers. "We welcome all weddings here, it is always a joyful event. I am pleased when I am there as a wedding officiant and I can personally wish people happiness in their life together," said the mayor.
"One of the favourite places for weddings is the Augustinian House Hotel with its spacious garden ideal for outdoor ceremonies.
"For large weddings, when the wedding guests rent the entire hotel for this purpose, we are already de facto sold out this summer. However, there is still the possibility of some dates when a smaller wedding of up to 20 people can be arranged here," outlined general manager Petr Borák. He added that the plans of wedding guests heading to "Augustinán" this season were not affected by the impact of government measures. "Fortunately, the coronavirus crisis did not force us to postpone the weddings, the first one was planned as a small one, for up to ten people, so it could have taken place in May," Borák explained.
It was in the June days that a number of couples in Luhačovice said their yes, and some of them also got their wish to have the wedding on the interesting date of 6 June 2020, which fell on a Saturday - the usual day for getting married. Zdeňka and Libor Klím had their ceremony on this day at the Vega Hotel above the Luhačovice dam. The couple are from Blansko, but the bride revealed that she originally came from Zlín, which is not far from here. "We have a close relationship to Luhačovice because when I was a child we often came here. Many of the wedding guests were from the region, so it was close to the ceremony. And for those from further away, it was no problem to arrange accommodation at the hotel," Zdeňka Klímová revealed.
"We also had beautiful weather, everything worked out, we were very happy. The originally planned date worked out, we were waiting to decide whether to have the wedding in June. Some ceremonies were cancelled by people, but we didn't, and we did the right thing," Klímová outlined.

The wedding at Vez will now go one after another, as the hotel's director Tomas Voráček explained.
"We have weddings arranged every weekend until the end of November. Someone was postponing the ceremony before, someone was writing about the possibilities and conditions, but I am glad that all the restrictions have fallen away and weddings can be held in peace," Voracek noted. Pohoda, another of the local hotels associated with wedding tourism, is also reporting interest in ceremonies and receptions.
"Guests are coming to us again, life is returning to normal and so we are expecting weddings again," noted hotel director Josef Michálek.
It was Jana and Jan Hrnčárk, from Hukvaldy, who were married not at the hotel but directly at the Luhačovice town hall. Their journey to the altar was complicated by a coronavirus crisis, but they are happy anyway. "We only had a small ceremony with witnesses, but it was translated several times. It was originally supposed to be on 4/4, but it ended up being on a similarly beautiful date of 6/6. We'll keep the original date on the rings though, we always at least remember how it went down. I guess it was meant to be," the newlywed remarked on behalf of the couple.

"My husband is a fisherman so we have been coming here for years to the Fisherman's Cottage at the Luhačovice Dam. We really like it here because no matter which side you go to, it's beautiful everywhere. We also passed by the dam on our wedding weekend, but this time there was no fishing," smiled Mrs. Hrnčárková. She recommends a wedding in Luhačovice. "It has a nice atmosphere, it's a nice place, the mayor was amazing and the ladies from the registry office were great. The weather worked out and everything was as we had imagined."
Lucie and Jiří Chalupník from Zlín have now also got married at Luhačovice Town Hall. "We come to Luhačovice very often, we like it here. After we met, we used to have our first dates in Luhačovice," revealed the newlyweds.

On Saturday, June 6, local native Anna Slováková and her future husband Štěpán Bartoš walked down the aisle there. They both like folklore and so the whole wedding was in costumes and with the participation of members of several groups.
"
When we were planning the wedding we clearly agreed that Luhačovice would be the most ideal place for our big day. A church wedding was a matter of course for us and we liked to enter into marriage symbolically in the Church of the Holy Family. Since folklore is a part of our lives, we chose to wear costumes from Moravian Kopanice (specifically from Starý Hrozenkov) instead of the classic wedding attire. Luhačovice is our heart's affair and we will always love to come back here," the newlyweds revealed.

The interest in weddings in Luhačovice is illustrated by the fact that the first one after the forced anti-epidemic break took place here on 24 April and since then the demand for wedding ceremonies has been growing. "Right after the relaxation of the measures, we saw an increase in bookings for weddings on summer and autumn dates. Some were fine-tuning weddings already planned for a year, while others were picking a new date again. What we're most pleased about is that after the coronavirus wave, many couples decided to say their "I do's", so we're constantly seeing interest in new dates. We try to accommodate everyone, whether it's on a weekday or the traditional Saturday. Weddings can take place in the ceremonial hall of the town hall or in the open air in the beautiful surroundings of Luhačovice and its surroundings," said Jana Homolková, head of the administrative department of the Luhačovice town hall.

Luhačovice wants to protect its historical centre
The town of Luhačovice is planning a building closure in the area of the historic core. The measure is intended to temporarily protect architecturally valuable sites from unregulated construction until the new zoning plan comes into force. The building closure is to apply to the spa colonnade or Jurkovič Avenue towards the Luhačovice dam. In other locations, on the other hand, the city is ready to support new construction.
