Clean air, lots of restaurants, or at least people in foreclosure. These are just some of the aspects that have brought Luhačovice to the top of the quality of life ranking in the Zlín region.

"I am glad that Luhačovice has become the best place to live in the Zlín region again this year and my main desire is that we continue to be satisfied here," said the mayor of Luhačovice Marian Ležák.

Luhačovice picked up many points in the Health and Environment category, in which it was the best in the Zlín region. The average life expectancy and the cleanliness of the air helped them significantly.

"When it comes to the availability of general practitioners, we are fifth in the region. It's a little worse with the availability of pediatric doctors. Luhačovice's points were also taken away by the time it takes to get to the nearest hospital," said Luhačovice spokeswoman Hana Srncová.

In the second category, Material Security and Education, Luhačovice came sixth in the regional ranking. According to statistics, they have the lowest unemployment rate of the entire region, the fewest people receiving benefits and the fewest people with foreclosures.

"The quality of high schools is lagging a bit in the inter-county comparison, and there is also expensive housing compared to gross wages," Srncova continued.

Bronze Luhačovice won in the last of three categories that assessed relationships and services. There, the town was greatly helped by the fact that it has a wide range of restaurants and cafes, lots of ATMs and a functional power network. In contrast, the train connections are poor.

The activity of clubs and interest associations is significantly richer in Luhačovice than elsewhere in the region. "And all those who go to municipal and regional elections have also raised the town's score, because the high interest in the elections has helped the town significantly in the Obce v dati survey," added Hana Srncová.

The second place in the Zlín Region was taken by Otrokovice (70th place overall) and the bronze belongs to Zlín (83rd place overall), according to the analysis of Obce v dati. On the other hand, Vsetín ranked the worst with an index of 2.1.
