Luhačovice offers free covid tests to the public

People in Luhačovice can be a bit calmer. Visitors and locals alike. One of the spa houses offered free antigen testing for Covid-19, not only to spa clients, but also to the public. Luhačovice.cz server was informed about this by the director of the Luhačovice Spa - Sanatorium Miramare Veronika Záhorská.

Taking the test was quite complicated for the residents of Luhačovice, especially for the older and less mobile ones or for the younger but busy ones not long ago. They did not have such an option in the local area and had to decide whether to travel 35 kilometres to a hospital in Zlín or Uherské Hradiště to take the test.

A few weeks ago, however, the situation changed and people can take the test at the Miramare Sanatorium, which is the only local spa facility offering this option to the general public. The free testing takes place every Monday, Wednesday and Friday morning. However, it is necessary to make an appointment in advance.
"We started testing in January with our new patients and employees in order to protect as much as possible not only our spa hotels, but above all the spa town itself. In the course of the process we decided to offer the testing to the public as well, which was evident in the following days when we had to extend the testing days and times," said Veronika Záhorská.
The testing site was established in Villa Helena, in the centre of Luhačovice. There, medical staff perform antigen tests on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 9 to 11 am. Testing takes place in a dedicated room where all strict hygiene measures are observed and the premises and equipment are disinfected after each test. Everyone will receive their results in approximately 20 minutes.
"Interested parties can make an appointment by calling 577 659 111, and we will add additional times if there is a high demand. In recent days, the interest of neighbouring companies and so-called pendlers, who need to travel with up-to-date tests, has been growing," Záhorská said, adding that there is also a great interest in testing among people who, for example, are going to visit their relatives at the spa on weekends.
The new public service was also welcomed by the mayor of Luhačovice, Marian Ležák. "We are trying to protect our spa town from coronavirus infection as much as possible. However, the best way to do this is through the consideration of all of us, especially with the help of increased hygiene measures. This includes the possibility of free antigen tests," the mayor added.
The tests are paid for by health insurance companies. Those interested must fill out a questionnaire in advance and must remember to bring their ID and health insurance card with them to the test. People can take the antigen tests repeatedly after three days. For RT-PCR tests, this is after five days.
If a person has already had the disease, they can be tested for Covid-19 for free up to 90 days after the first RT-PCR test with a positive result.
