For them and their parents a festive opening of the new school year was prepared at the building of the lower grades. A pleasant start to schooling was wished to the first graders and their parents not only by the school principal Mgr. Pavel Kurtin, but traditionally also the mayor of the town Ing. Marian Ležák and other guests. Present were also the vice-mayor Ing. Jiří Šůstek, the director of the DDM or a representative of the local parish.
After welcoming the schoolchildren and their parents, the children were divided into classes and greeted by their class teacher. In many cases, there was no lack of flowers or chocolates from the children to welcome the teacher. At Luhačovice Primary School this year, 1st A will be led by Mgr. Vendula Mrkvičková, 1.B Mgr. Dana Josefíková. Together with them, the children headed to their classrooms, followed by their parents. The boys and girls were prepared for their first tasks, such as finding their written name, but also lots of gifts in the form of notebooks, stationery and other things. Parents were then given a lot of important information about the running of the school, the after-school club and so on. Parents of first graders residing in the town also received a financial contribution from the town hall for the purchase of school supplies.
The rainy morning did not spoil the pleasant start of school. At least some of the boys were able to frolic with umbrellas before the meeting at the school. Many of the first graders headed out for their big day with their briefcases already in hand, most with enthusiasm, as is usually the case for some, and a little apprehension about how they were going to make it.
"I'm looking forward, most of all, to reading. I already have my briefcase with me," revealed Elen Žmolíková, for example. "I'm also going to enjoy counting, math," the first-grader added. She also admitted that she was a bit nervous, for example about how to dress nicely for her first day of school. "We chose for a long time," smiled the little girl. Although she was also looking forward to school, another first-grader, Sofinka Zichová, said she was a little worried. And that was how she would manage to get up in the morning. "Luckily my mom woke me up, I probably wouldn't have woken up on my own," the girl commented. And what will be the most attractive thing for her at school? "I'm most looking forward to sitting in the desk with my friend," Sofinka is clear. "Let's see how it will be with learning," smiled her mother Gabriela Zichová. Another first-grader, Jáchym Jansa, couldn't wait for his first day at school. "I'm really looking forward to it, probably most of all to my classmates. I already know some of them. I'm looking forward to reading more than counting, I already know some letters. For example, A," Jáchym revealed. So let him and all his classmates at Luhačovice Primary School do well, enjoy learning, and make their parents and teachers happy!

The town of Luhačovice is planning a building closure in the area of the historic core. The measure is intended to temporarily protect architecturally valuable sites from unregulated construction until the new zoning plan comes into force. The building closure is to apply to the spa colonnade or Jurkovič Avenue towards the Luhačovice dam. In other locations, on the other hand, the city is ready to support new construction.
