"I am very happy that we have managed to keep the tradition this year and at least symbolically sanctify the local springs and show that tourism in our town is reviving again. The celebration was a direct follow-up to Monday's opening of hotels and restaurants. After a difficult period, we are trying to do our best to promote Luhačovice as a tourist destination. We want to make it clear that Luhačovice is ready for all guests this year and the official opening of the season is proof of that," said the mayor of Luhačovice Marian Ležák.

This year's programme of the Opening of the Springs was of course adapted to the current possibilities of planning and holding events and everything took place in a minimized form. Even so, there were performances by the folklore groups Malé Zálesí and Leluja. In the Vincentka hall they presented a traditional folklore band with recitation "Vodolenko milá" dedicated to the springs. The popular event was also attended this year by members of the Zlín Region Council headed by the Governor Jiří Čunk and representatives of spa companies and hotels operating in the town. During the meeting, parish priest Hubert Wojcik blessed the Vincentka spring, the most famous of all the local healing springs. This time, however, only invited guests and media could watch the programme in the hall of the same name due to capacity reasons, in order to comply with the mandatory spacing of people. The public could then see the procession of participants through the colonnade to the Chapel of St. Elizabeth. Here, a common prayer was held asking for blessings for Luhačovice, the local spa and for all those who come here as visitors. The ceremony at the chapel was closed by the ringing of the bell, which welcomes all those who seek and find peace, tranquillity, rest, relaxation and new experiences in Luhačovice.

"The town is prepared with many activities for visitors, it is full of flower beds and beautiful greenery as in other years. It is as if it is calling itself: We look forward to seeing you! I also join this call and cordially invite everyone to visit our beautiful city. The fact that life has started to stir here again pleases our citizens, as well as all those who come to visit us for renewed stays," concluded Mayor Ležák.

Luhačovice wants to protect its historical centre

The town of Luhačovice is planning a building closure in the area of the historic core. The measure is intended to temporarily protect architecturally valuable sites from unregulated construction until the new zoning plan comes into force. The building closure is to apply to the spa colonnade or Jurkovič Avenue towards the Luhačovice dam. In other locations, on the other hand, the city is ready to support new construction.
