"It is a complete reconstruction of the bus station, which will get new stops and furniture and will be modified to improve safety. The transfer to train services and individual transport will be facilitated. The place, which is one of the main gateways to our spa town, will thus gain an attractive appearance, but it will also serve all visitors much better," outlined Deputy Mayor Jiří Šůstek.
A significant change accompanying the reconstruction of the station will be the construction of a roundabout instead of the existing intersection and bus turntable. "Some drivers were unsure who had the right of way at this location because of the similarity to the roundabout, which complicated traffic. After the modifications, everything will be clear and the risk of traffic accidents will be minimised," Šůstek added. New shelters at the platforms will be a special feature. "Because we are trying to promote ecological solutions in the city, we chose a type of bus stops with a roof covered with greenery," Šůstek explained.

The modifications will add bike racks as well as four "Kiss and ride" spaces for cars near the train station building. These are spaces designed to quickly drop off passengers bound for public transport or pick them up on arrival. Similar spaces will also be built near the roundabout, which in turn will be used to drop off children being driven to school by their parents. This is to prevent cars from driving all the way to the primary school and turning around there, creating a number of dangerous situations.
Sidewalks and platforms will also be repaved throughout the area, as well as entrances to crosswalks and the entire station will be made wheelchair accessible. The reconstruction will also include new public lighting.
The city is financing the Luhačovice transport terminal from its own budget, but it has been approved for a subsidy from the Integrated Regional Operational Programme of up to 7 million. The project has a budget of CZK 7 million. This year's biggest investment of the city should be completed in autumn. "The construction contractor is currently being selected. The construction of the new terminal should start in May and the major part of the work should be completed within five months. During the reconstruction, buses will arrive at another location "The platforms will most likely be temporarily moved to the nearby bus parking lot in Nádražní Street," the deputy mayor concluded.

The town of Luhačovice is planning a building closure in the area of the historic core. The measure is intended to temporarily protect architecturally valuable sites from unregulated construction until the new zoning plan comes into force. The building closure is to apply to the spa colonnade or Jurkovič Avenue towards the Luhačovice dam. In other locations, on the other hand, the city is ready to support new construction.
