Municipal organisations are responding to rising energy prices. Entrance to the swimming pool and sports hall will be more expensive from next year

The significant increase in energy prices is a major issue that is currently being addressed in virtually all towns and villages, and this is no different in Luhačovice. The local town hall is not planning to reduce the range of services until the end of this year, but from January 2023 the extreme increase in costs will be reflected in the operation of municipal organisations. Specifically, in adjustments to the price list and operating hours of the swimming pool and sports hall.

Budgets are currently being prepared for both the city and individual contributory organizations. The City Hall, as the founder, declares that the offer of services will be unrestricted until the end of the year, both in the field of sports and culture, as well as education and schooling.

"Our goal is to maintain the current offer of services into the next year, with the help of the renewal of less energy-intensive technologies. We will continuously provide the public with information about further developments," assures the mayor of Luhačovice Marian Ležák.

The Elektra Cultural and Congress Centre, for example, had to make changes."We have switched heating circuits so that only the parts of the buildings that we currently need to use are heated. Areas that are not currently in use do not need to be heated at all or only minimally," describes Elektra's director Jan Zavřel.

The City Swimming Pool and the Radostova Sports Centre are also implementing energy-saving measures, where air conditioning or circulation pumps are being replaced. But both organizations must also make more drastic changes.

Admission and rental prices for the swimming pool and sports hall will increase by about 30 percent starting in the new year. In addition, the swimming pool will have reduced hours to 8 p.m. from January through April, and morning fitness swimming will also be cancelled during those months.

"Unfortunately, these measures are necessary in order to maintain both facilities and to ensure that residents and visitors to the town can continue to use their services," says Miroslav Talaš, director of the Municipal Swimming Pool and Radostov Sports Centre.
