Orienteering runners started the season

This applies not only to joint organized training sessions, but also to participation in competitions. On Saturday, 30th May, the first unofficial race in the Zlín region took place with the centre above the Luhačovice dam, organized by the local branch of TJ Slovan Luhačovice. The race was attended by about 280 excited runners of all ages, for whom it was the first start in the 2020 season. The fastest times in the main categories were achieved by Michaela Dittrichová from Kroměříž in the women's category and Tomáš Kolárik from Zlín in the men's category. Our athletes also did well, among whom Klára Sedláčková won her D12 category, while Julie Slámová, Eva Ferdusová, Jitka Slezáková, Václav Stacke and Martin Plášek also climbed the imaginary podium in their categories. This marked the start of the series of races of the Wallachian Spring League, which will continue during June.

Even during the state of emergency and the announced quarantine during March, April and May, orienteers did not slack off. Senior members completed individual running training sessions according to the prescribed schedule. In addition, a map training was prepared every week in the close vicinity of Luhačovice, where each of the interested members could log a specific time through the internal system so that this "joint" training could be completed really independently.

Unless there are further complications, the official competitions for orienteers at the regional and national level will start at the beginning of September. We still have plenty of time to prepare before then. From the nearest events, about 70 members will go to the club camp, which this time will take place in mid-June in the Jizera Mountains with facilities at the Slovanka cottage.
