The public space in Luhačovice has been enriched in recent days by two outdoor exhibitions. We informed you last week about the first exhibition Big Women in Small Spas, which is dedicated to prominent female personalities who have made a significant mark in the history of the local spa.

The second outdoor exhibition Luhačovice and World War I presents the history and consequences of the First World War in the town. It can be seen on several exhibition panels right in front of the town hall.

To date, the history of World War I in relation to Luhačovice has not been professionally processed and specified. In recent years, the Luhačovice Zálesí Museum, in cooperation with J. Starý, has attempted to recapitulate these events and, following a public appeal, has approached citizens to help clarify historical data on the number of conscripts, wounded and fallen from Luhačovice and nearby villages. Luhačovice also does not have a monument to its victims of the First World War, nor to some of the other victims of persecution and the twists and turns of 20th century history. Efforts at historical recapitulation should result in a dignified honouring of these victims.

The exhibition was prepared by the Pramen Luhačovice Foundation in cooperation with the Luhačovice Forest Museum and the town of Luhačovice.

Luhačovice wants to protect its historical centre

The town of Luhačovice is planning a building closure in the area of the historic core. The measure is intended to temporarily protect architecturally valuable sites from unregulated construction until the new zoning plan comes into force. The building closure is to apply to the spa colonnade or Jurkovič Avenue towards the Luhačovice dam. In other locations, on the other hand, the city is ready to support new construction.
