Like every year, the event attracted crowds of people. Many of them came at the call of the organizers wearing elegant hats, caps or fascinators. Original hats were also available for purchase at the event. A commented fashion show on the stage at the Sunny Baths also revolved around the headgear.
Hat Day is regularly held to mark the September anniversary of the birth of singer and poet Maria Calma Vesely (8 September 1881 - 7 April 1966), wife of the first director of the Luhačovice Spa.
