In order to avoid the possibility of abuse of the current situation, it is necessary to keep in mind some basic rules of safe behaviour and not to respond at the present time to offers from unknown callers or strangers who might go around the elderly and knock on their doors without prior arrangement. Please note that there is no temperature monitoring of seniors in Luhacovice in their home environment!

Advice to seniors:

If you need help, do not approach strangers. Try to seek out officially established crisis lines for seniors or neighborhood help where you live.

When dealing with various organizations, ask to see identification that you are actually an employee of that organization. Don't be afraid to ask for a phone contact where you can verify the person.

Always have a list of things you need to buy, arrange, procure in advance. Don't let someone else impose a service that you don't want.

Never lend your credit card and if possible have the exact amount of cash for the purchase or service you want ready.

Don't let strangers into your home when you receive a purchase, use the common areas of your home to do this, or use the option of handing your purchase over the fence for houses.

If you are approached on the street by a stranger offering to help, politely decline. If you need help, approach a vetted organisation yourself. When approached by strangers on the phone, say that you are not interested in the service offered.

Also, please note that there are currently no public fundraisers taking place to raise money in connection with the COVID - 19 response. All announced public collections can be checked on the official website of the Ministry of Interior of the Czech Republic
