The realization of this event is the result of the joining of forces of the association Kulturní Luhačovice, which is the organizer of the folklore festival Songs and Dances, which has been an integral part of the public space of our town for almost three decades, and the private foundation Pramen Luhačovice, whose founders are the Petráks. Therefore, the theme of the first exhibition, whose author is Blanka Petráková, PhD, is connected with the traditions of our region. This theme is Wedding in the Zálesí region.
The wedding ceremony is a turning point in the life of an individual (newlyweds), which is significantly reflected in society by reshaping and enacting a new position of the individual in the family and in society. This transformation, in the form of a traditional rural wedding, has always been associated with many customs, ceremonial acts, music, drama, dance and other manifestations. Over time, the wedding ceremony has undergone numerous transformations. Many of the customs, songs, dances and wedding games have been forgotten or have changed in content, some of which have survived to the present day. Understanding their content, origin, course and the laws of the traditional wedding ceremony in the Luhačovice Zálesie region helps us to penetrate the world of our ancestors, a way of life linked to the cycle of the economic year and the social norms of a rural community firmly bound to the land, church and family traditions. The exhibition also captures the changes in wedding ceremonies and wedding dresses during the 20th century in Luhačovice and its surroundings.
The opening of the exhibition Wedding in the Zálesí Forest, to which I would like to invite you on behalf of all those interested in this short article, will take place on Saturday 11 July 2020 at 2 pm at the place of installation of the exhibition. However, if for any reason you are unable to make it, you can view the exhibition at any time of the day or night of your choice until the end of October 2020.

Luhačovice wants to protect its historical centre
The town of Luhačovice is planning a building closure in the area of the historic core. The measure is intended to temporarily protect architecturally valuable sites from unregulated construction until the new zoning plan comes into force. The building closure is to apply to the spa colonnade or Jurkovič Avenue towards the Luhačovice dam. In other locations, on the other hand, the city is ready to support new construction.
