The chancellor is gradually regaining her youthful appearance

She may be a lady in her dotage, but she's certainly not short of attention right now! We are talking about the Kancýřka villa in Luhačovice, which is gradually gaining its youthful appearance under the hands of its "caretakers".

She was born in 1906 in Luhačovice. Therefore, it makes sense that the ravages of time have had a significant impact on her. Even so, she has no shortage of men - she's had quite a few of them on her lately. We are talking about a rare villa, which is even registered in the Central List of Immovable Cultural Monuments of the Czech Republic. It was built according to a project by Brno architect Jan Mráček, who was a pupil of Viennese professor Otto Wagner.

"Anyone who has ever walked through Luhačovice has certainly noticed the villa. And they must have noticed the way it is falling into disrepair. The new owner of the villa, who started the reconstruction, found out after the work started that the roof and the tower were in such a desolate state that the repairs, which were planned within a certain financial range, were not really enough," said Zuzana Fišerová, Zlín Region Councillor for Education and Culture.

That is why the Zlín Region will provide financial support for the repairs. Specifically for the restoration of the roof and the observation tower. The reconstruction will cost more than 5.6 million crowns. The subsidy will exceed one million. The owners then plan to open the villa to the public as well.

"It is an important monument and a very interesting building. I firmly believe that the renovations will go as planned and that the public will soon be able to see it. And most importantly, that the monument will live again," continued Fišerová.

This unique hexagonal villa with its unique "golden" roof is a unique example of the combination of geometric art nouveau and oriental influences. The roof will be restored to its original state, which is why it is a demanding process in terms of materials, technology and finances. It also includes the production of hand-formed decorative ceramic ridges, the production of a glazed roof covering in a specific shade and the replacement of a large part of the wooden structure.
