The first stage of the reconstruction of the cinema at the Elektra Cultural and Congress Centre (KKC) in Luhačovice began at the end of December. The centre is investing a considerable amount of money in the cinema hall, which it has allocated from its budget as a contributory organization of the town of Luhačovice.

"Replacing the seats was already necessary. We managed to buy 223 almost new seats from the projection hall of OC Galerie Šantovka, which was being converted into a multifunctional space and this type of seats was not suitable for them. The price of a new seat is approximately CZK 5,500 and the buy-back price was CZK 852. We had 40 seats of the same type made to go with these seats, so that the capacity of the cinema hall would not be reduced," said KKC Elektra director Jan Zavřel, adding that the total cost of the new seats was just under half a million crowns.

The repairs also include the laying of a new floor, which will cost the centre around 720,000 crowns. "We chose Flotex vinyl flooring with pile, which combines the look of a textile covering and high durability," Zavřel added. Visitors can also look forward to a new illuminated staircase.

All of the aforementioned improvements are part of the cinema's gradual modernization. In the past, the centre has already replaced the sound equipment with the help of a grant from the State Cinematography Fund. According to director Zavrel, a second phase of renovation is planned for the future, which will bring further improvements to the cinema.
