After the April exhibitions Big Women in Small Spas and Luhačovice and World War I, another outdoor exhibition, Forgotten Verses, was installed in the town centre a few days ago. The exhibition uses poems from the 1930s to nostalgically recall the amorous atmosphere that accompanied social life during spa stays. Historical material is drawn from archival periodicals, specifically from the Luhačov Spa Newsletters from 1931 - 1934. The exhibition of approximately fifty poetic texts will be on display throughout May.
"These are the author's love poems, written directly with purely just-lived inspiration, which capture in such a wonderful way the authentic feelings and extraordinary experiences and love stories important to us, in a humorous style and with exaggeration, which the spa patients experienced in their free moments between treatments," said Regina Bittová, co-author of the exhibition, on behalf of the Elektra House of Culture, which prepared the exhibition.
The poems from the 1930s are unique, she said, in that they were quite common in local spa life at the time. "It's wonderful how a once so familiar way of sharing in verse was also publicly published. Today, we can therefore very vividly imagine, through verse, how people were once able to describe and express states of love, soul and heart in a sophisticated way and thus understand their feelings and emotions, which is sometimes lacking in today's world," added Bittová.
The poems, which perfectly match May's atmosphere of spring and love, are displayed on tree trunks along part of Masaryk Street. The route of the exhibition goes on one side from the confectionery shop at the roundabout in the centre, several texts are placed on a group of trees near the Elektra Municipal House of Culture and verses can be seen on other trees along the main road up to the turn towards the railway station. On Station Street towards the transport terminal are the last of the texts, and the outdoor exhibition at the station ends on this side.

Luhačovice wants to protect its historical centre
The town of Luhačovice is planning a building closure in the area of the historic core. The measure is intended to temporarily protect architecturally valuable sites from unregulated construction until the new zoning plan comes into force. The building closure is to apply to the spa colonnade or Jurkovič Avenue towards the Luhačovice dam. In other locations, on the other hand, the city is ready to support new construction.
