The exhibition consists of two parts. Jurkovič's little-known or until recently unknown architectural work is presented in the introductory part, prepared by Slovak architects Peter Žalman and Vladimír Hain. The authors have summarised here completely new knowledge about Jurkovič's work in the period of the First Republic, concentrating on public and technical buildings in the spirit of functionalism. Building materials such as burnt brick and stone dominate these modernist projects.
The second part of the exhibition recalls Jurkovic's work in Moravia before World War I, particularly in Luhačovice, Vsetín and Pustevny. It focuses on works inspired by the design principles of folk architecture and folk ornament, with wood as the main building material. It was prepared by Blanka Petráková for the exposition of the Museum of Southeast Moravia in Zlín - Museum of the Luhačovice Zálesie.
The exhibited examples of the furnishings of the Vsetín Civic Credit Union and Jurkovič's house in the Luhačovice Spa come from the collections of the Museum of Southeast Moravia in Zlín and the Museum of the Wallachia Region in Vsetín. The model of Jurkovič's house is on loan from the Museum of Art Olomouc. The replicas of the seating furniture designed by architect Dušan Jurkovič were made by students of the Secondary Vocational School in Luhačovice as part of a long-term cooperation with the Museum of Southeast Moravia.
The exhibition is complemented by a self-service discovery game and a creative workshop for creative visitors who like to build and construct. The wooden building blocks encourage spatial perception, dexterity and creativity. It allows you to try out the work of an architect and urban planner and build a village or town according to your own imagination. The Education Department has prepared a number of accompanying programmes for schools and the public.
The exhibition Dušan Samo Jurkovič Known and Unknown will run until 8 October 2023.

Luhačovice wants to protect its historical centre
The town of Luhačovice is planning a building closure in the area of the historic core. The measure is intended to temporarily protect architecturally valuable sites from unregulated construction until the new zoning plan comes into force. The building closure is to apply to the spa colonnade or Jurkovič Avenue towards the Luhačovice dam. In other locations, on the other hand, the city is ready to support new construction.
