The Water Treatment Institute and the River and Sun Spa will soon become a museum of composer Leoš Janáček, who was a frequent guest of the spa, and architect Dušan Jurkovič, whose buildings significantly influenced the appearance of Luhačovice. The complex, which was completed in 1903 and experienced its greatest fame during the First Republic, will become another tourist attraction of Luhačovice. The building is also proposed as a national cultural monument.

The reconstruction will require investment costs of more than 100 million crowns. The project is organized and financed by the joint-stock company Lázně Luhačovice with a subsidy from the IROP programme. The subsidy will cover 85% of the eligible costs.

Work started at the end of March 2021 and the first visitors are expected to enter the museum in 2023.

Luhačovice wants to protect its historical centre

The town of Luhačovice is planning a building closure in the area of the historic core. The measure is intended to temporarily protect architecturally valuable sites from unregulated construction until the new zoning plan comes into force. The building closure is to apply to the spa colonnade or Jurkovič Avenue towards the Luhačovice dam. In other locations, on the other hand, the city is ready to support new construction.
