The programme of Luhované Vincent will delight all those who are not afraid to cross the borders

The central theme of the festival, numbered 12, explores the question of boundaries and limits dividing society, opinions, politics, ideas, groups of people, their possibilities, nations, gender or religion, and it sounds quite apt: Across the Line. It is the theme of crossing boundaries that will be reflected in the formal level of the curatorial choice of each dramaturgical line.

Hana Řičicová's Sound Section, which premiered at last year's festival, for this time abandons the classic approach of involving the visitor in a hands-on workshop and presents three distinctive performers - composer and sound designer Natalia Pleváková, producer and recent winner of the Best Electronic Track category of the Vinyl Music Awards Pavla Bastlova, who will venture beyond the line of perceived categories of sound art.

Their performances will be partially interspersed with the music section. This will be complemented by the successful rapper Arleta, who is not afraid to go beyond the established rules of the genre in her speech and draw attention to the topics of sexism, climate threats or mental health. The festival will also bring the hypnotic musical project from the USA - Timber Rattle, in its current four-member, purely acoustic incarnation.

The film part of the programme will not be left out. Its dramaturgy seeks to expand the imaginary boundaries of perception of the medium of film beyond established expectations or structures. The festival's opening film, Crossing the Border (Florence Miailhe, 2021), uses the unique technique of oil on glass painting to tell a powerful personal story of a journey across borders, carrying the theme through its form and story line.

The closing film Bubble Bath (György Kovásznai, 1980), on the other hand, is an experimental hybrid, combining musical, romantic comedy and social documentary, which at the time of its release was seen as a radical venture in the world of animation. A journey across borders, perceived or internal, will be depicted by the Austrian comedy road movie Ordinary Creatures (Thomas Marschall, 2020). Blurring the boundaries of social classes, as well as genre, will be represented by the docu-fiction Argentinian experiment Esqui (Manque La Banca, 2021), drawing on mythologies and local legends in Latin America.

In the intersection of film and the moving image, and thus imaginatively the category of film and visual art, there will be the traditional screening of Other Visions CZ 2021, which will be presented at the festival in collaboration with the partnering Showcase of Film Animation and Contemporary Art - PAF. Among other things, the winning video of this competition category of the Olomouc festival - Zalando War Machine by visual artist Jozef Mrva will be screened here. He is also preparing a site-specific video installation for Luhované Vincent, responding to the festival theme.

From it will come performative actions by conceptual artist Marian Palla. The Adamec family will also head to Luhačovice - Delfína, Uršula, Jana and Jakub Adamec are planning a joint project of kind activism tailored to the festival. A set designer/cosmetologist and a musician/gallery curator, along with their children, will draw visitors into the action.

The theatre programme is also tailored to families with children. A puppet tale about a builder bear who wanders through the woods looking for a suitable place to live, called Where Shall We Live, will be performed. Audiences can also look forward to a special intimate performance for 10 people - Moetivi Caravan / Expedition to Home, which will be performed in eight repetitions in a special cosy caravan. The movement performance Urge, based on a concept by choreographer Ceren Oran, seeks to figuratively turn the walls of the home into a dance hall. It draws inspiration from the frustrating experience of a year and a half of pandemonium and separation and transforms it into a joyful and energetic experience, quite deliberately set in a public space.

The dramaturge of the theatre section and also the festival director Magdaléna Petráková concludes her selection with a wish.
