The festival, which is entering its 30th year this year, will take place from 11 to 15 July. This time, it will also remain true to its tradition and its main purpose, which is to present the life and work of composer Leoš Janáček, who repeatedly returned to the local spa.
"The jubilee edition will open on Tuesday, July 11 with a work from his peak period - the Glagolitic Mass, which he began composing in 1926 in Luhačovice. This will be performed on the Spa Square by soloists - Pavla Vykopalová, Marie Vrbová, Petr Levíček and Václav Jeřábek, the Czech Philharmonic Choir Brno and the Bohuslav Martinů Philharmonic Orchestra under the baton of Leoš Svárovský," mentioned one of the main "draws" of the festival manager Milena Hrbáčová and added that the opening concert will also feature Dvořák's famous Symphony No. 9 in E minor "From the New World".
The Leoš Janáček exhibition, newly prepared by the Leoš Janáček Foundation and TIC Brno, entitled Janáček's Journeys, will also be related to Leoš Janáček. It will present the composer through historical photographs on his travels to perform his works, to study folk songs and dances, but also to relax. The exhibition will be on display throughout the month of July in the Vincentka Hall.
On the other days of the festival, the Spa Theatre will present to the audience the virtuoso clarinetist Irvin Venyš with the Chamber Philharmonic Orchestra Pardubice under the direction of conductor Marek Štilc, the Smetana Trio with Jan Talich - violin, Jan Páleníček - cello and Jitka Čechová - piano, who have won numerous important awards, and Petr Nouzovský, who ranks among the best European cellists, together with the Slovak Sinfonietta from Žilina, conducted by Adam Sedlicky.
The festival will close with the great Prague Baroque ensemble Collegium Marianum together with flutist Jana Semerádová and Baroque bassoonist Ondřej Šindelář, who will make the beautiful and dignified premises of the Holy Family Church ring with their music on Saturday 15.
"The overall dramaturgy of the festival, conceived for both demanding listeners and spa guests and children, will offer a rich programme with a wide range of compositions and a variety of genres, e.g. A. Vivaldi, F. Jiránek, G. A. Brescianello, J. Haydn, J. Mysliveček, W. A. Mozart, O. Respighi, P. I. Tchaikovsky, L. Janacek, B. Martinů, G. Holst and others," said Hrbáčová.
The accompanying programme will also feature the colourful and varied Moravian folklore that inspired and in a way conquered Janáček himself. "Children will not be forgotten during the jubilee edition either, for whom a continuation of the week-long interactive workshop Adventure with Bystrouška will be prepared in the week from 10 to 14 July under the guidance of Lenka Psotová and Jitka Dulíková Gottfriedová," added the festival manager.

Luhačovice wants to protect its historical centre
The town of Luhačovice is planning a building closure in the area of the historic core. The measure is intended to temporarily protect architecturally valuable sites from unregulated construction until the new zoning plan comes into force. The building closure is to apply to the spa colonnade or Jurkovič Avenue towards the Luhačovice dam. In other locations, on the other hand, the city is ready to support new construction.
