The second weekend in July will offer a fair and other events in Luhačovice

On Sunday, 12 July, Luhačovice commemorates the 23rd anniversary of the consecration of the local Church of the Holy Family. The Luhačovice pilgrimage will offer an all-day fair, a festive mass in the church at 10:15 a.m. with the participation of the Zálesanka brass band, and there will also be carousels and other fairground attractions on the grassy area near the church. The event is traditionally organized jointly by the local parish and the town of Luhačovice.

"I am very happy that we managed to organize this event again this year. A number of similar programmes have been cancelled elsewhere and we are very much looking forward to having people come to Luhačovice for the pilgrimage," said Mayor Marian Ležák.

Interestingly, this year's pilgrimage will symbolically mark the end of the ministry of Hubert Wojcik, a long-time local parish priest who is leaving for another parish this summer. Thanks to the pilgrimage, the town will once again come alive after a long time with the popular fair, which is held in Luhačovice several times a year. This year, however, due to the situation, the fair starts with the fair during the fair, because the one at Easter could not take place due to the anti-epidemic measures. Visitors to the Luhačovice fair will be delighted by about a hundred stalls with lots of refreshments, various regional delicacies and handicrafts. People can find them in front of the Town Hall on 28 October Square, but also on two sections of Dr. Veselý Street. Specifically, in the area in front of the post office and in the part of the promenade going from the Vltava Hotel to Najada. The stalls will not be lacking gingerbread hearts, as at any proper fair, but also wooden toys, ceramics, wicker goods or leather goods. There will also be no shortage of various homemade jams, spices, natural cosmetics or handmade soaps and jewellery. People will enjoy cheeses from the nearby goat farm and Slovakia, as well as pancakes, trdelníčky, gluten-free potato cakes and many other goodies and refreshing drinks. The music of an accordion player will also contribute to the good mood of the fair visitors.

The second weekend of July will offer a number of other events in Luhačovice besides the fair. On Friday evening, for the first time this year, people can go to the Elektra Town Hall for a popular dance party with brass band. Antonín Koníček's Boršičanka will play here from 19:00. On Saturday morning, lovers of classic Porsche cars will descend on Luhačovice. About thirty shiny sports cars will be on display from 10 to 12:30 on the promenade from Najada to Jurkovič's house. Also on Saturday at 2 pm, the opening of the new long-term exhibition in front of the Luhačovice Town Hall will take place. The title of the exhibition, Wedding in the Luhačovice Forest, reveals what it will focus on. Traditional culture will also be enjoyed from 3 p.m. on Saturday at Lázeňské náměstí in a programme prepared by the Malé Zálesí ensemble. On Sunday, in addition to the Luhačovické pilgrimage with a church service, carousel and fair, people will also miss the popular colonnade concert on the stage in front of the Social House. The Vlčnovjanka brass band will perform there from 4 pm.
