And this is a role in which they can use all their strengths. In the Luhačovice spa, it is not just about treating at the patient's own expense. Since the effectiveness of the treatment of respiratory system diseases is officially confirmed in the so-called Indication List and in contracts with all health insurance companies, it is possible to prescribe this treatment in Luhačovice in the form of comprehensive spa care and have it fully covered by insurance. And it is already happening.

The Luhačovice Spa specializes in the treatment of the most common consequences of lung and bronchial damage. "We use proven treatment procedures common in respiratory diseases and, of course, years of experience in treating these diseases. The main methods include individual inhalation of natural mineral water led by Vincent, breathing rehabilitation, massage, selected hydrotherapy treatments and drinking therapy of the local mineral waters. For each individual treatment program is designed. Patients experience a reduction in breathing difficulties, coughing, improved fitness and, last but not least, improved psyche. We have already received the first proposals for spa care. Patients are not postponing treatment and have been coming since the opening of the spa at the beginning of January," says prim. MUDr. Jiří Hnátek, the chief physician of Lázně Luhačovice, a.s. "The health condition of each patient after recovery from this disease should be further monitored with specialist doctors, for example pulmonary doctors. I recommend not to make the follow-up care easier," adds prim. Hnátek. Spa care facilitates the return to normal life, speeds up recovery and, last but not least, has a preventive effect and reduces the impact of other health complications.

In addition to adults, children from 1.5 years of age are also treated in Luhačovice. "Although the course of the disease is usually quite mild in children, our spa treatment can help them with their recovery. Recently, we successfully treated a child who was suffering from a cough after overcoming cavid," says MUDr. Jana Rydlová, director of children's spa facilities at Lázně Luhačovice, a.s.

The proposal for spa care covered by health insurance companies can be issued by a general practitioner or a paediatrician on the recommendation of a pneumologist or even directly by a specialist doctor. Depending on the diagnosis, the length of stay for adults is 21 or 28 days and for children 28 days.

"Only with the passage of time do the complications of this disease gradually become apparent. One of the consequences of the disease is persistent fatigue, muscle weakness, anxiety, headaches and muscular pains. Often, these difficulties occur even in those who have had an uncomplicated course of the disease itself," says Eduard Bláha, M.D., General Director of Lázně Luhačovice, a.s. Léčebné lázně Jáchymov a.s. These complications can also be treated in our Jáchymov spa, which bases its treatment on a combination of unique baths in radon water with top-quality rehabilitation.

Healing, regenerative or preventive stays are also offered in both spas in a self-pay form and the first interested parties are already booking them. The one-week stay in Luhačovice, called Rehabilitation after Covid-19, includes carbonic baths, inhalations, massages, oxygen therapy, peat wraps and drinking cures. A similar stay in Jáchymov offers, for example, exercises with a physiotherapist, oxygen therapy, massages, a salt cave, as well as Vincent inhalations. For both stays, the spa doctor will confirm the suitability of the recommended treatment or, depending on the state of your health, make a substitution.
