The spa sanatorium successfully treats patients after covid with a special laser

The initial results of the special laser treatment are very promising, according to experts, and the interest of patients in this treatment method is therefore rapidly increasing. In just one week, nearly forty patients have undergone the special laser lung irradiation therapy. They have seen very good progression and significant improvement in their condition.

"High-power MLS laser gives us new possibilities of specialized treatment of patients with post-covid syndrome, with the aim of faster retreat of post-inflammatory changes in the lung tissue, achieving the best and fastest recovery and return to the original condition and quality of life," said Jana Mahdalíková, head of the treatment department of the Miramare Luhačovice Spa House.

She added that the new treatment method is followed by inhalation therapy, respiratory physiotherapy, correction of movement stereotypes and muscle imbalances, hydrotherapy and other spa procedures.

"We started MLS laser treatment for post-covid syndromes on February 1 this year and our patient pool is gradually growing. We assess the effect of treatment based on subjective patient assessment, comparison of SpO2 values on pulse oximeter, spirometry results and lung X-ray findings before and after treatment. With the passage of time, we will evaluate the effects of the treatment on a larger number of recovered patients," explains Jana Mahdalíková.

The duration of treatment in patients with post-covid syndrome is around 14 minutes per affected lung and it is necessary to continue the treatment for five consecutive days to initiate the pro-regenerative effect. The treatment with high-power laser therapy is followed by respiratory physiotherapy techniques and manual techniques for postural correction.

In addition to patients feeling subjectively better, the effectiveness of the therapy has also been demonstrated by spirometric examination. Significant improvement was also diagnosed on lung X-rays as early as 3 to 4 weeks after starting treatment.
