This year's Opening of the Springs is coming up! What programme will the three-day festival offer?

The Opening of the Springs Festival is the largest event held in the spa town every year. This year, the organizers expect several thousand visitors to participate again, both from the spa guests and people from Luhačovice and the surrounding area.

"It is a symbolic opening of the season, which is year-round and not limited by anything, but this symbolism unites not only visitors, residents of Luhačovice and onlookers, but also local associations, which are happy to participate in the entire program. I very much appreciate the cooperation of the town of Luhačovice, KKC Elektra, Technical Services, Police of the Czech Republic, Luhačovice Municipal Police, the Association of Volunteer Firefighters and other cultural associations," said the mayor of Luhačovice Marian Ležák.

The festival includes a rich cultural programme, which is again varied this year. The three-day festivities will be opened this year by the Czech clarinetist, saxophonist, composer and conductor Felix Slováček and his guests. The festive concert will feature, among other things, the songs of Karel Gott performed by Ondřej Provazník. Saturday will kick off with a parade of historical costumes, vehicles and bicycles.

"The swing band Melody Gentlemen with First Republic music, the Luhačovice District Society Calma, the Society of Elegant Ladies, the dance groups The Crazy Flappers and Swing Zlín will perform at Lázeňské náměstí," said Elektra Ďurďová, head of the Culture Department of the KKC.

Visitors will be able to take a period photo in the Art Nouveau photo studio, and old masters of the lazebnik craft will also demonstrate their craft. Children will surely be entertained by Jiří Šebesta's wondrous games or circus games.

The celebrations will culminate in a Sunday festive mass and subsequent blessing of the springs. On this day, visitors will enjoy the sight of the beautiful colourful costumes, songs and dances of the region. This year, we have not forgotten the street fair that accompanies the event throughout the weekend," Durďová continued.

The event is realized in cooperation with the Luhačovice Spa, which provided the beautiful spa facilities. "Although the season is never ending for us and we take care of relaxing guests and patients undergoing treatment practically around the clock, the Opening of the Springs festival is a popular and well-attended symbolic opening of the main tourist season and a beautiful reminder of what makes a spa a spa - mineral healing springs," said Jiří Dědek, General Manager of Luhačovice Spa.

As the number of visitors continues to grow, one of the annual priorities is to provide hassle-free parking for visitors. "The city has set aside space for a parking lot on the approach from Uherský Brod. From there, a shuttle service will run to bring guests to the city centre. Everything will be arranged by volunteer firefighters from Luhačovice, Kladná Žilín, Řetechov and Polichno," Luhačovice spokeswoman Hana Srncová explained.

The shuttle service will be provided on Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., when minibuses will turn around after half an hour. Tourists can also use local CSAD services.
